Pilgrim is a collection of works by Gillian Wilkins where collage as an everyday ritual becomes a vessel, deciphering the incarnation of symbolic energies traversed in the dream life. 

For this body of work, Gillian reimagines a number of vivid dreamscapes she has recorded over time as a source of material for her collages and photography. The nature of revisiting these memories activates sense memory - a conscious process, where physical sensations accompany the memory of the dream, unveiling metaphysical & surreal landscapes.

Gillian’s collages are formed by minimal yet thoughtful components to create an evocative and sensory experience. Each collage contains original photography, printed on various papers of different finishes and textures - a thoughtful and curious process achieved over a number of experiments. The traditional language of cutting and folding is also present and renders a conversation about process, materiality and the act of collage itself.

The show is named Pilgrim as this contemplates Gillian’s journey of turning inward for inspiration as an attempt to reconnect with the nature and energy of an unbound imagination.
