PSILOCYBE

Earth Core presents PSILOCYBE, a new exhibition by Canadian-born, Berlin-based artist Alex de Brabant (b. 1984).
Across large-scale photographs, de Brabant turns to the psilocybin mushroom—an organism at once humble and mythic, grounded in soil yet charged with visions. Rendered through the warmth and saturation of analogue slide film, the works ignite with an otherworldly chroma, at times searing, at times soft, always in flux.
PSILOCYBE is an invitation to stand before the elemental, to enter into a chromatic meditation on perception, and to recognize how nature, in its smallest forms, can bend the limits of human seeing.
OBJETOS PERDIDOS

In Objectos Perdidos, the artist present us his inspiration for his works, lost objects often found in various places such as flea market in Mallorca to Berlin as well as family personal object such as a fig grabber his father introduced to him at a very young age.
The inspirational objects give us a dialogue with his own designed and crafted objects. When put them all together, they sang in the melody of the land and sea.

Pilgrim is a collection of works by Gillian Wilkins where collage as an everyday ritual becomes a vessel, deciphering the incarnation of symbolic energies traversed in the dream life.
For this body of work, Gillian reimagines a number of vivid dreamscapes she has recorded over time as a source of material for her collages and photography. The nature of revisiting these memories activates sense memory - a conscious process, where physical sensations accompany the memory of the dream, unveiling metaphysical & surreal landscapes.

The Myth of Progress
Sometimes only a small shift is required to get out of one situation into another. She had been past this store countless times before and it had never even occurred to her to go inside. But today a sweet temptation suddenly emanated from it. And her steps that had until a moment previously been plotting out an unswerving and purposeful straight line on the wet and shiny sidewalk changed direction from one second to the next, nudged by the confluence of various signals at some indeterminate place. When her foot glided over the threshold, the hem of her T-shirt fluttered once more in the damp bright wind and brought some movement into the dark, stale air, before her T-shirt, like all the other items of clothing in the space, hung limp, as if in a vacuum.

What is revealed is more than botany. The mushroom here is not object but oracle—its delicate structures vibrating with histories older than language, its forms echoing both the fragility of life and the dissolution of the human self. For centuries, psilocybe has been a guide: dissolving borders between mind and matter, self and cosmos, perception and illusion. De Brabant captures this dissolving with precision and reverence, translating a fleeting, altered consciousness into an enduring visual state.
The artist’s practice, spanning portraiture, still life, and immersive form, has long been shaped by an ecological sensibility. His time studying permaculture in Portugal sharpened his attention to cycles, systems, and symbiosis. In PSILOCYBE, this awareness converges with his devotion to photographic craft. Each work is not simply taken but cultivated—built through a ritual of analogue cameras, large-format film, and patient observation. The result is imagery that feels less like documentation and more like encounter, vibrating at the threshold between representation and vision.
